UpdraftPlus 1.26.11 follows two security fixes, making restore checks the priority
The October 16 release corrects handling of a rare SQL mode and a restore regression. WordPress publishers should update the plugin and verify recovery in a controlled environment.

UpdraftPlus released version 1.26.11 on October 16, 2026, following security updates on October 14 and 15. The newest release addresses handling of the rare NO_BACKSLASH_ESCAPES database mode and fixes a restore problem introduced in 1.26.10.
The official plugin changelog says the earlier fix did not correctly handle that SQL mode. Its authors describe the configuration as uncommon but still recommend updating. The practical priority for a WordPress publisher is to check the installed release and the recovery process, rather than assume that a completed backup proves a safe restore.
The sequence matters more than a single version number
The October 14 entry for 1.26.9 describes a conditional issue: an attacker able to insert a database cell larger than 1 MB with chosen content could cause arbitrary SQL to run when the owner backed up and restored the site. That is a restore-related scenario, not a statement that every installed copy was already compromised.
The October 15 entry for 1.26.10 describes a related case involving restoration on a database server configured differently from the original. Version 1.26.11 then corrects the SQL-mode handling and a separate case in which a specially constructed oversized line could be silently dropped after rejection.
These are the maintainer's descriptions. They do not establish exploitation on any particular publisher's site, and an update alone does not certify the integrity of an existing archive.
Check the recovery environment as well as the live site
Record the plugin version before changing it and obtain the current release through the established update channel. The changelog notes that paid releases use a different version-number prefix, so administrators should confirm the corresponding paid release rather than compare the first digit alone.
Keep existing recovery copies while investigating. If a restoration is necessary, use an isolated environment and qualified help where needed, especially when the backup's origin or contents are uncertain. Avoid restoring a questionable archive over the only working production site as an informal test.
A backup job and a recovery result are different evidence
After updating, verify that a new backup completes, that its files reach the expected storage and that a controlled restoration produces the expected site. Inspect logs and representative articles, media and configuration. Document the environment used, because the disclosed sequence includes a difference between database configurations.
Use the staging and rollback guide to organize the change, and the WordPress access audit to review who can modify content and settings. Those checks address different parts of the risk. Neither replaces confirming that the backup tool itself is current.
